Mom truth: it’s the first time in my entire life Mom truth: it’s the first time in my entire life that I traveled without doing my nails, wax, eyebrows or shaving.
A lot of us are in a “just keep swimming” survival mode these days. It’s easy to forget about ourselves simply to preserve the energy we do have to do the very most important things to keep our families going. Taking care of ourselves can fall way behind in this to-do list or not make it on the list at all! (I literally cut my own hair twice in the last few months - and my hair salon is across the street from my house… so… I know this 😅)
While it’s important to push a message to all moms to prioritize ourselves so we can be our best selves for our families, it’s also important to acknowledge how often that doesn’t happen and how that feels. Not taking proper care of yourself can look like:
- skipping meals
- skipping showers
- letting go of personal care you’re used to
- staying up late to try and catch up on alone time you don’t get during the day
- isolating yourself
- decreased social contacts
And can make us feel:
- low energy
- depleted
- resentment towards partner/kids
- isolated
None of these are conducive to providing proper care for our kids, nor to fostering healthy relationships with our families.
When we put ourselves first we our giving our families the gift of a strong, happy and healthy CEO of house & home ♥️💪🏼

Tip for flying with young babies these days: many flights aren’t full which means there are extra seats to lie down and to get a seat for your baby instead of keeping them on your lap.
We asked whether there were empty seats at check-in and brought Gabriel’s car seat on the flight with us so he had his own seat free of charge :)
Mom truth: lugging carseats through the airport was a disaster ✌🏼
* the extra car seat we brought is the Cosco Scenera available on Amazon for cheap and it’s EXTRA light. We have two of these in grandparent’s cars for when they have the kids. They’re rear or forward facing for kiddos 5-40 lbs.

Hello 2022 🥳 Hello 2022 🥳
I'm in this space a lot lately, are you? W I'm in this space a lot lately, are you?

With the increasing restrictions in Quebec, it's a good idea to learn some tools to maintaining a healthy sanity in the upcoming weeks.

"Today I want to talk about how living during a global pandemic can impact sensory overload.

Given the restrictions that have been put in place, the lack of support, and being around our partner + children more than usual, we are likely feeling overstimulated. We may not have access to the same support that we previously had.

This can leave us feeling helpless.

The truth is, we can still create space to recharge during these times. Our efforts will take creativity. Our efforts will also look different than they did pre-COVID, but they are still worthwhile.

I tell parents to do what they need to create room for pause.

This may look like:

✅ Allowing your kids to use technology while you take quiet time
✅ Practicing quiet time as a family in separate spaces (if safe and age-appropriate)
✅ Using nap time as a time to recharge rather than finish a chore
✅ Setting up a quiet activity for your kids that will allow you to sit down and rest
✅ Telling your partner or support person that you would like scheduled time each day to be alone (even if you’re in another room)
✅ If you’re up for it, waking up before everyone else"

We had our first dental check-up today with Dr. Ju We had our first dental check-up today with Dr. Julia Schwartz @petitsourire.mtl in the comfort of our own home 🦷
We weren’t able to get a photo/video of the exam, because well… toddlers 😅 David was not so fond of brushing the back of his teeth but Dr. Julia was so friendly, calm, quick and efficient! They counted Melman’s teeth first, and then David’s and brushed his teeth to the ABC song 🎵
Dr. Schwartz also taught me when, how, and why to brush David’s teeth. As a mom she understands the struggle and has all the tips + tricks you need to make dental hygiene as easy as possible!
She sees kids under 3 yrs in your home or in-clinic and she can also go to daycares. You can find her email on @petitsourire.mtl to book your check-up 😁
Thank you Dr. Schwartz! What a genius and so convenient service for young families 👶🏻

They told me I would not travel again. They told They told me I would not travel again.
They told me I would no longer have alone time.
They told me I wouldn’t want to return to work.
They told me I would forget myself buried under family priorities and responsibilities.
And to them I say, life is what you make it, and you can make it what you want it to be.
Nothing about you will ever be the same as it was before, but it doesn’t have to be the same to be great. Whatever you want, you can make it happen, and it will be different, and it will be beautiful 💙
Quick tips for flying with kids ✈️ 1. Breastf Quick tips for flying with kids ✈️
1. Breastfeeding or drinking from a bottle during takeoff and landing helps to ease the pressure in their ears and calms them down in a loud and chaotic environment.
2. Babies under the age of 2 fly free if you’re willing to hold them on your lap. They will not have a seat. Some airlines will give you a seatbelt extender for the baby, others will not and you just hold the baby in your arms. For longer flights, many airlines have bassinets (for babies under 8 months) that you need to reserve ahead of time along with the seat next to it.
3. Toddlers over the age of 2 must have their own seat which is the regular cost of the plane ticket. You can bring a carseat onto the flight (at no extra cost) for the toddler to sit on, but it’s not required. We chose to bring it on board for David to be more comfortable and able to sleep in it.
4. You can keep your stroller with you at the airport right up to the plane door, at which point an airline staff will take it and give it back to you when you step off the plane after your flight. The airline gives you a large thin plastic bag to put the stroller in (the bag is not usually big enough for a double stroller). If your gear gets damaged you might be able to make a claim with the airline or your insurance for compensation. Some stroller brands will even send you a new one or new parts.
5. Pack light for your trip, pack light for the flight. I know this is easier said than done because moms need to be prepared for all the situations. But travelling as a family can be challenging as it is, you don’t want to be weighed down by tons of bags. Kids often want to be held and you won’t be able to focus on them if you’re lugging all this weight around.
6. Last but not least, bring entertainment. If you have an iPhone or iPad you can download shows/movies on Netflix. I got child headphones with volume limit for David (link in bio). You can also bring small games, colouring book, etc.
EXTRA - if you have a baby carrier, bring it along. There’s a lot of walking and waiting around and babies can get restless in the stroller. Link in bio for our carrier.
Safe travels! ✈️
